Discussion with Participation Artist Verity Richards

I had an incredible discussion with Verity, who is an actor, facilitator, curator, director and artist. She co-founded the project Speak Up a theatre company for survivors of sexual violence. I had been wanting to hold this conversation for some time and was really excited to speak about her work and ideas.

We discussed (among many things) the importance of authentic story telling, of lived-experience led work and of exclusion (of people and stories within the arts). It was exciting discussing her process, values and how powerful their latest project was in both process and it's output. They took their play on tour in different spaces including theatre performances within safe houses.
