SELFIE/Solidarity Salon

I was commissioned as co-creative director for the public workshop linked to SELFIE interactive zine. I worked with Jennifer Bell on creating the content and materials (and all artwork) for the event and facilitating the space itself.

It included facilitating different conversations around self-image using written words/difficult questions and instructions to take photographs of each other in different ways within the space. We worked to make the space feel honest, comfortable and welcoming so we could all examine ourselves deeply. I also included designing cocktails based on conversations I had about people’s desires, likes, dislikes, attractions, ways of communicating. We invited people to do pampering activities with each other in the salon as a tool for connecting, opening up and holding space for deeper dialogue around ourselves.

This workshop is a sexy, surreal, sublime and strange celebration of self-indulgence, self-love and self investigation.

You are invited not only to meet strangers and connect in a different way, but to meet yourself and connect to your sense of self in a new way too.

We will explore how we look, how we see ourselves, how we present and how we see each other, through connection and PLAY.
